In the Stavropol Territory, together with vegetables, green crops are grown for seeds and for the production of fresh and dry greens. Due to cold resistance and early ripeness, these crops can be grown starting in early spring, collecting several harvests per year.
The main production of green crops is concentrated in Novoselitsky, Blagodarnensky, Grachevsky and Trunovsky districts. Farmers mainly grow dill and parsley for seeds, more than 1.5 thousand hectares are allocated for them. This year, the gross harvest for seed purposes amounted to more than 711.9 tons.
Also, dry greens are produced from dill in Stavropol, My Dream LLC is working in this direction – 58.4 tons have been collected from an area of 239 hectares this season.
– Greenhouse complexes are operating in the territory of the region, which have established year–round production of salad crops – arugula, spinach, chard, mini salads, which are especially popular in the off–season, winter season, – said Elena Tambovtseva, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.
So, in the village of Nezhinsky Foothill District a few years ago, an investment project of LLC “Valley of the Sun” was implemented for the construction of two stages of a modern greenhouse complex with a total area of more than 12 hectares. Greenhouse vegetable crops are grown there on the basis of new resource-saving technologies in order to import substitution and increase yields: tomatoes and mini-salads (arugula, salad mizuna, spinach, corn, chard, tatzoi, oak leaf lettuce). Currently, the company has produced 261.7 tons of green crops.
A new type of state support is provided for greenhouses engaged in the production of vegetables of protected soil with the use of additional illumination technology. In 2022, 20.6 million rubles are provided for these purposes within the framework of the state program of the Stavropol Territory “Development of Agriculture”, the funds have been brought to three agricultural producers.
Governor Vladimir Vladimirov has repeatedly focused on support in the implementation of investment projects in the agro-industrial complex of the region, including the construction and modernization of greenhouse complexes producing protected ground vegetables and other vegetable products throughout the year, which will increase the competitiveness of Stavropol products, reduce the share of imported vegetables.
