In a significant milestone for Tyumen’s agricultural landscape, the fourth phase of the TyumenAgro greenhouse complex was inaugurated on December 13th in the village of Narimanova, Tyumen Oblast. This expansion solidifies the facility’s position as the largest beyond the Ural Mountains, set to yield a remarkable 8,500 tons of vegetables annually, according to the regional department of the agro-industrial complex.
With the introduction of the new phase, the total cultivation area for greenhouse vegetables will nearly reach 52 hectares, securing the combinate’s top rank in vegetable production within the Ural Federal District.
The complex, primarily known for cultivating cucumbers, tomatoes, and cherries, boasts versatile greenhouses capable of adapting to dynamic consumer demands by accommodating other crops. This flexibility positions TyumenAgro at the forefront of responding to changing market needs.
Tyumen’s cucumbers and tomatoes have garnered demand not only from residents within the Ural Federal District but also from northern regions of the oblast. The expanded production capacity, now reaching around 40 thousand tons annually, exceeds the local demand for greenhouse vegetables by almost 1.5 times. This surplus is expected to facilitate increased exports without compromising the region’s internal requirements.
Governor Alexander Moor, present at the complex’s grand opening, highlighted the substantial impact of TyumenAgro on the regional economy. Over eight years, the investor has injected approximately 18 billion rubles into the local economy, leading to the creation of 800 new job opportunities.
“Thanks to Tyumen’s agrarians, Siberians can enjoy nutritious and flavorful vegetables on their tables throughout the year,” remarked the regional head, emphasizing the pivotal role of TyumenAgro in ensuring a year-round supply of quality produce.
TyumenAgro’s expansion marks a paradigm shift in regional agriculture, demonstrating the potential for sustainable and innovative practices. The ability to exceed local demand while contributing significantly to the export market underscores the strategic importance of such initiatives in fostering economic growth and ensuring food security.
