Jakarta’s East Mayor Concludes Hydroponic Urban Farming Training at RPTRA Gebang Sari
On December 7th, East Jakarta Mayor Bambang Musyawardana concluded a hydroponic urban farming training session at the Gebang Sari Child-Friendly Integrated Public Space (RPTRA). The event was attended by key figures, including Poskota Daily’s Editor-in-Chief Toto Irianto, PT Pipa Power Manager Edi Yuwono, East Jakarta’s Head of Food Security, Marine, and Fisheries Agency Agung Priambodo, Cipayung Sub-district Head Iin Muthmainah, and local urban village leaders.
The training culminated in a hydroponic urban farming competition, with Munjul Urban Village securing first place, Bambu Apus in second, and Lubang Buaya in third. Mayor Musyawardana emphasized the importance of disseminating the acquired knowledge throughout the Cipayung community, highlighting that hydroponic farming can enhance local economies by enabling the cultivation of various crops, including chilies.
Editor-in-Chief Toto Irianto noted that the hydroponic competition was organized in anticipation of Poskota’s anniversary. He expressed gratitude to PT Pipa Power for their support and encouraged the use of diverse materials, such as plastic containers, to promote urban agriculture and strengthen food security.
Hydroponic farming, which involves growing plants without soil, offers numerous benefits for urban settings. It allows for efficient use of space, water conservation, and the potential for year-round crop production. As urban populations continue to rise, integrating such sustainable agricultural practices is crucial for ensuring food security and promoting economic growth within city environments.
