In a recent exchange, experts from Kozloduy Municipality, including ecologists and a jurist, visited Trojan Municipality’s award-winning greenhouses just a day after their national recognition for “Access to Good Food.” The article unveils the story, from conception to realization, as shared by Boris Boyadzhiev, Director of the Directorate of Municipal Property and Economy, and Silva Kapounova.

Commencing in 2020, Trojan Municipality’s greenhouse complex covers 2 hectares, housing three tunnel-type greenhouses, refrigeration facilities, outdoor cultivation areas, and a registered apiary. Learn about the impact of this initiative, including the integration of the harvested produce into child nutrition programs, attracting interest from neighboring municipalities.

Earlier this year, students from a partnered school in Pern-le-Fonten, accompanied by their teacher, visited Trojan to learn from the municipality’s eco-greenhouses. The exchange, part of a project to establish fruit orchards and eco-greenhouses, showcases Trojan’s influence in promoting sustainable agricultural practices beyond its borders.

Impressed by Trojan’s initiatives, Kozloduy Municipality representatives expressed their intent to incorporate these best practices in establishing their eco-greenhouse complex. The article emphasizes the significance of eco-greenhouses in Trojan Municipality’s strategy for sustainable agriculture and the production of healthy food.
