According to the operational data of the Department of Agriculture of the Lipetsk region, 168.2 thousand tons of cucumbers, tomatoes and salads were harvested in four greenhouse complexes of the region in 2022, which became a new record for the region. A year earlier, the harvest amounted to 165.7 thousand tons of vegetables and green crops. Cucumbers and salads in the Lipetsk region are grown in the Yelets district. 85.1 thousand tons and 1000 tons of them were collected last year, respectively. Greenhouse complexes in Dankovsky, Khleven and Usmansky districts specialize in tomatoes. In 2022, 82.1 thousand tons were received in them.
Since the beginning of this year, more than 3.5 thousand tons of vegetables and green crops have already been harvested. Having not the largest areas under greenhouses, the region tops the list of leading regions in the production of vegetables of the closed ground due to the use of modern technologies. All greenhouse complexes in the region are of the fifth generation. They can collect almost twice as much produce per square meter as in conventional greenhouses.
