Multi-fashion park LLC “Taste of Stavropol” has launched year-round production of blueberries in greenhouse conditions. The area of crops was about 2 hectares, the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture told reporters on Monday.
“The company has launched the production of blueberries – about 2 hectares have been allocated here for the northern berry. Blueberries feel good in the foothills of the Caucasus, and the first harvest can already be purchased in shops and markets of Stavropol,” the message says.
As explained to TASS in the press service, the total area of berry greenhouses has reached 20 hectares. The company has been implementing a project in the Foothill District of Stavropol to create a multi-modal agro-industrial park since 2019.
As part of the first stage of the project, Russia’s first year-round production for growing strawberries in greenhouses was created. By the end of 2021, the strawberry harvest amounted to more than 600 tons. According to the ministry, in 2022 the company plans to produce about 1 thousand tons of strawberries and blueberries.
The project involves the creation of a total of 30 hectares of greenhouses for growing strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and currants.
